Postmansburg - In an effort to eradicate drug trafficking and various other crimes plaguing the communities of Postmasburg and Danielskuil, members from the Rapid Response team under the command of Lt Col Colin Qunta executed disruptive actions in the greater Postmasburg and Danielskuil areas. These police actions were executed under Operation Vala Konke and included raiding of alleged drug houses, illegal liquor outlets in Boichoko, Postdene, New Town in Postmasburg and Danielskuil. Random stop and searches and Blue light patrols were also conducted on the R385 road between Postmasburg and Danielskuil. The disruptive actions commenced at 09:00 on 25 October 2022 and concluded at 24:00 which resulted in the apprehension and arrest of 9 (nine) persons and the confiscation of drugs, liquor and dangerous weapons. Five (5) persons were arrested for dealing in drugs and four (4) for both dealing in drugs and for contravention of the Liquor Act 27/1989. Large amounts of liquor,TIK, dagga and mandrax tablets were seized and cash to the amount of R7 416-00 was confiscated as it is believed to be the proceeds of the sale of the drugs and liquor. The suspects will soon appear in the Postmasburg and Danieskuil Magistrates courts respectively on charges of dealing in drugs and Contravention of the Liquor Act. The Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola indicated that there will be more boots on the ground towards enhancing police visibility in the affected areas of Postmasburg and Danielskuil. She issued a stern warning to criminals that the police will squeeze their space to operate as we will be adopting a zero tolerance approach when it comes to crime, especially during this festive season and beyond. kurumanchronicle053@gmail,com
